SEAONC SE3 2019 Webinar
Engineer Your Dream Career

Event Recap
Based on the SEAONC SE3 Survey Results, more than 50% of the respondents have considered leaving the industry and almost 20% reported to be dissatisfied with their career. No matter where you are in your career, or how satisfied you are with your current position, or daily tasks and responsibilities, it is important to check in with yourself and ask questions about the ideal trajectory of your career.

On Wednesday, October 9th, SE3 held their first webinar format event. Over 100 attendees from around the Bay Area and beyond listened and participated in this insightful webinar held by career coach Dr. Amina Aitsi-Selmi, M.D. Ph.D.
Topics of discussion included  principles of career progression and how individuals can identify where they are in their career trajectory.

Three principles of career transformation to highlight:
  1. Constant urgency is toxic. Give yourself permission to slow down.
  2. Dream BIG and take one tiny step towards your dream every day.
  3. Confidence isn’t a requirement, it’s a result. Action trumps perfection.

The webinar offered an opportunity for audience participation, with viewers asking questions about stumbling blocks they have faced in their career, such as getting pigeon-holed into a specialty, and how a young engineer can affect cultural change at their firm.
